Naturopathic medicine is not a new medicine. The main tenets of this medicine focus on healing the patient by supporting the human body's own natural healing abilities and finding out the cause of the patient's disease, while not focusing on treating symptoms.
Naturopathic physicians are trained in the art and science of natural healthcare at accredited medical colleges. These programs include the standard medical education combined with courses in botanical medicine, nutrition, psychology, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, and physical medicine. Naturopathic physicians are currently licensed in seventeen states in the US. Many insurance carriers now cover naturopathic medicine.
